Cars can only follow your route within the limitations of physics. E.g., if you want a car to drive very fast through a sharp corner, you have to set up an appropriate chassis. Or you have to reduce the speed using speed markers. Please note also, that Drive has a learning mode. The car has to learn especially difficult routes, so let it drive the route a few times.
