I'm trying to rig a 5-axle truck and everything works fine so far! The only problem I have is that I would like to move the wheels' pivot points further in toward the chassis so that the pivot point aligns with the actual steering axle. I have quite a lot of stuff in the Wheel objects that need to pivot correctly. :-)

See example: https://ibb.co/vs1SyyR

Is there a trick to this?

yes, but it's actually a trick. Go to edit mode (time pointer at frame 0) and select the vehicle object in order to make the hadles visible. Move the yellow handle of the front right wheel to the pivon you desire holding SHIFT key. This moves the container object of the wheel leaving your wheel model at it's place.

To compensate for the disadvantage that the wheel's running surface is no longer correct, I would increase the width of the wheel a bit.

Hmmm... doesn't seem to be working on a Mac on R25. The whole container, and its contents, move irrespective if I hold down SHIFT or not. No other key combinations seem to work either...

However, I can of course move everything outside the container, shift and resize it, and then put everything back which is a bit of a cumbersome workaround but perfectly doable. :-)
Sure, that you are moving the HANDLE and not any object? It also MUST be the right wheel, the left one follows accordingly.
